What is it ?
PASS PLUS is a training scheme for new drivers. It's much more than just a few extra lessons. This is a specially designed course with input from the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) and the help of insurers and the driving instruction industry.
The scheme consists of six practical modules which cover driving in town, in all weathers, on rural roads, at night, on dual carriageways and on motorways.
You can take it at any time within the first 12 months of passing your test.
There is no test at the end of it your driving will be continually assessed and you must successfully complete all the modules in the course to an achieved or exceeded standard:
Why do I need it ?
Road Accidents currently account for :
PASSPLUS will help you to
gain valuable driving experience safely
build on your existing skills and knowledge
reduce your risk of being in a road accident
save money on car insurance premiums
boost your confidence (and give peace of mind to your family and loved ones)
How much will it cost ? Probably nothing !!!
Most new pupils save more on their first insurance policy than the course actually costs !! Typically I see pupils saving between £250 and £500 on their first premium after completing the PassPlus training.
The cost is normally more than covered by the discount on insurance policies for passplus qualified drivers and some councils (including Staffs) offer a further subsidy to students because of the acknowledged road safety benefit to be gained.
